Background:
Soho district is uniquely blended with chic restaurants
and historical elements. Despite the packed buildings, there
are tiny areas, though hardly being designed for comfortable
use, serves as resting places for locals living nearby.
This
project is to revitalize these tiny "gems"
in Soho , providing a comfortable open space with
identity for local people.
Site:
Kwong Hong Terrace, Soho, Central, Hong Kong
Idea:
1. Maximise the drama by using the large level difference
of the site & the vertical white trunk of the
Eucalyptus tree to create 2 features: waterfall &
Eucalyptus terrace.
2.
Use concept of solid & void to create 2 enclosed
space for privacy: children's playground & Eucalyptus
terrace.
3.
Enhance the identity of Kwong Hong Terrace by using
group sculptures in the image of old times local residents
4.
Highlight & preserve 2 stone-wall trees
